AI SEO & Answer Engine Optimization
Two things now decide whether a business gets found: whether search engines can rank it, and whether AI assistants will name it when someone asks a question out loud. We work on both, from our office in Plano, Texas.
What is AI SEO?
AI SEO combines traditional search engine optimization with AI-powered content systems to create scalable, programmatic content strategies. This includes AI-assisted content creation, automated optimization, and data-driven SEO at scale.
Why AI search changed the requirement
Traditional search returns a list and lets the user choose. An AI assistant returns an answer, and usually names one to three businesses. Being the fourth-best result used to mean some traffic; being the fourth-best answer usually means none.
That shifts the work. Ranking signals still matter, but so does whether a model can extract a clear, consistent, verifiable set of facts about your business from your site and from the wider web.
Getting named for location-based questions
A large share of AI queries about services include a place: the city, the neighbourhood, or simply 'near me'. For an assistant to include your business in that answer, three things need to line up.
First, your location and service area have to be stated unambiguously and consistently — the same address, the same phone number, the same service area, everywhere they appear. Second, the connection between the service and the place needs to be explicit in your content rather than implied. Third, the pages making those claims need to be substantial enough to be treated as a source rather than filler.
That last point is where most local SEO efforts fail. Publishing dozens of near-identical pages with a city name swapped in does not create location authority; it creates a pattern that both search engines and AI models are good at recognizing and discounting. A smaller number of genuinely substantial local pages outperforms a large network of thin ones.
- Consistent name, address, phone, and service area across every source
- Explicit service-plus-location statements rather than implied ones
- Structured data describing the business, its services, and the area served
- Substantial local pages instead of templated city-name variants
- Clear separation between where a business is located and where it serves
What we work on
The engagement covers the technical foundation, the content, and the structured data that connects them.
- Technical SEO: crawlability, rendering, speed, canonicals, and redirects
- Making primary content available in initial HTML rather than only after JavaScript runs
- Structured data for organization, services, location, breadcrumbs, and Q&A content
- Question-led content that answers real queries directly in the first sentence
- Content architecture that concentrates authority instead of dividing it
- Monitoring how the business appears in both search results and AI answers
Answering the question before selling the service
Content that gets cited by AI tends to share a shape: the question is stated plainly, the answer comes immediately, and the supporting detail follows. Content that buries the answer under an introduction tends not to be used at all.
This is also why an FAQ section written for real questions — including the awkward ones about price, coverage, and limitations — often outperforms a longer marketing page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SEO and AEO?
SEO aims to rank a page in a list of results. Answer engine optimization aims to have your business named inside an AI-generated answer. They share a technical foundation, but AEO puts more weight on clear factual statements, structured data, and content that answers a question directly.
How does a business get found in local AI searches?
By stating location and service area consistently everywhere, making the service-plus-location connection explicit rather than implied, marking it up with structured data, and publishing local pages substantial enough to be treated as a source.
Do we need a separate page for every city we serve?
Usually not. Large networks of near-identical city pages are easy for search engines and AI models to recognize as templated and discount. A small number of genuinely substantial local pages, supported by a clear regional page, tends to perform better.
Does AI search visibility replace traditional SEO?
No. The technical foundation is shared, and the same crawlers feed both. AEO is an additional layer of work on top of a site that is already crawlable, fast, and well structured.
How long does it take to see results?
Technical fixes can be reflected within weeks of being crawled. Authority-driven changes, including how often a business is named in AI answers, move more slowly and depend on the consistency of information about the business across the web.
